We stock and install BFT-compatible welding and fabrication parts across Miami, with typical installed work running $260 to $780 depending on the part and your gate’s condition. Most BFT hinge, bracket, and gate frame repairs we handle same-day when the part is on the truck, which it usually is. You’ll likely know this part failed because the gate drags, sags, or makes a grinding sound at the hinge point that wasn’t there last month.

Here’s the reality we see in Miami every week: salt air and morning humidity attack welded steel joints faster than almost anywhere else in Florida. A BFT gate that worked fine for years can suddenly bind at a rusted hinge bracket or stress-crack a weld after one good storm season. The part itself might be small, but the failure gets loud and obvious fast. Cole Rafferty has pulled apart more of these than he can count, and the pattern is usually the same: the original weld held, but the surrounding metal didn’t.
Which BFT Models This Applies To
BFT builds gate hardware, not just operator boards. The welding and fabrication work we do applies to BFT swing and slide gate systems across their common residential and light commercial lines, including the Deimos, Phobos, and Icaro series, plus their heavy-duty sliding openers where the drive rail, end stops, and motor mounting brackets carry real load. If you have a BFT tag on the operator, chances are the adjacent fabrication is what failed first.
The key to matching the right part is in the metal thickness and hole pattern. BFT operator mounting brackets are drilled for specific bolt spacing, and a weld-on replacement has to match that pattern or the operator sits slightly off-axis and eats its own gears. We measure the bracket, the gate frame thickness, and the post condition before we ever strike an arc. On the OEM-vs-aftermarket question for BFT specifically: the factory brackets are fine when they’re available, but for structural gate repairs in Miami we often recommend a heavier-gauge local fabrication because the original failed once in this exact climate. Getting it right matters more than keeping it original.

Signs Your BFT Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the latch side. A cracked weld at the hinge or a bent hinge bracket lets the gate drop enough that the latch no longer lines up. The operator then pushes against a misaligned load, which shortens its life too.
- You hear a grinding or popping noise mid-travel. That pop is usually a weld letting go under tension. The gate keeps moving, but the broken metal flexes with every cycle until it tears completely.
- The gate leans when it’s open. When the gate sits at full open and visibly tilts, the hinge post or the gate frame itself has a structural problem. Spraying lubricant won’t fix metal that’s no longer one piece.
- Rust stains drip from a joint. In Miami, this is the early warning. The weld joint bleeds rust before it breaks. If you see orange streaking at a hinge or bracket, the failure is already underway.
- The operator works but the gate struggles at one spot. A dragging section means something mechanical is binding, and the operator is fighting it. The longer that continues, the more likely the next failure is a stripped gear instead of a $40 bracket.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For BFT welding and fabrication work in Miami, here’s what we quote before any work starts, in writing:
- Hinge bracket replacement and welding: $260 to $420 installed, including grinding out the old bracket, fitting the new one, and welding it square.
- Gate frame crack repair (single weld point): $180 to $340 installed, depending on whether we need to add a reinforcing plate.
- Operator mounting plate or drive rail bracket repair: $320 to $580 installed, because we remove and re-align the operator as part of the job.
- Full hinge set replacement with re-alignment: $480 to $780 installed, for gates where both hinges and the post plate need rework.
Every quote includes the parts, the labor, the welding consumables, and a written price you approve before we touch the gate. The warranty on our weld work is one year, and it’s backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails inside a year, the return visit is free. We don’t do surprise line items at the end. The price we hand you is the price you pay.

DIY or Call Us?
Let’s be honest about welding: the dangerous parts are the heat, the electrical current, and the fact that a bad weld looks fine until it fails under a moving gate. If you own a MIG welder and you’ve done structural work before, you can clean rust and paint a bracket. You can tighten bolts. What you shouldn’t do is attempt a load-bearing weld on a gate hinge without the right setup, because a hinge failure while the gate is moving is a real injury risk to anyone standing nearby.
What we’d rather you do is call us, describe what you’re seeing, and let us put a name and price on it. We come out, measure, show you the written quote, and get it right the first time. Know what’s broken before we touch it. Fix it once. Call (850) 495-7564 and you’ll talk to a live person who can get you scheduled.
FAQs
In Miami’s salt air, an unprotected steel weld or bracket on a gate typically lasts 5 to 8 years before it starts showing meaningful rust, which is why we use heavier-gauge material and rust-resistant coating on all our weld repairs. A repair done correctly with proper prep and coating should outlast the original factory weld in this climate. Call (850) 495-7564 if you want us to look at what you’ve got and give you an honest read on its remaining life.
A crack at a single weld point can usually be repaired by grinding out the old weld, repairing the surrounding metal, and welding the joint again with a reinforcing plate if needed. If the metal around the crack is thin from rust, we’ll tell you straight that replacement is the better call. We’ll show you what we’re seeing before you spend a dollar, and the price is always in writing first.
Most BFT hinge bracket and gate frame weld repairs in Miami take 1.5 to 3 hours on site, including cool-down and a test cycle of the gate. If we need to remove and re-align the operator, figure on closer to half a day. We’ll give you a time window and a written price when you call (850) 495-7564.
We keep common BFT hinge brackets, mounting plates, and reinforcing stock on our trucks, along with the welding equipment to do the work same-visit. For odd sizes or heavier-gauge custom plates, we order from our local Miami fabrication suppliers and usually have the part within one to two business days. Call (850) 495-7564 and we’ll tell you honestly whether it’s a same-day fix or a two-day turnaround.
