We stock and install DoorKing-compatible welded gate components throughout Miami, with most welding and fabrication repairs running between $450 and $1,400 installed, depending on the bracket, hinge, or frame section that failed. For most jobs we can have a technician on site the same day or next morning, and every welded repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. The way owners usually find us is simple: the gate starts dragging on one corner, a hinge tears loose, or the steel around the operator mount cracks through. In Miami’s salt air and afternoon storms, steel fails at the weld points first, and a gate that still runs fine on the motor side is quietly tearing itself apart on the hinge side.

We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with DoorKing. What we are is a gate-specific shop that welds and fabricates DoorKing-compatible parts on site, so you don’t wait a week for a pre-made bracket that still might not fit. Cole Rafferty and the crew cut, fit, and weld to your gate’s actual measurements, not a catalog drawing.
Which DoorKing Models This Applies To
DoorKing builds its gate hardware around two main families: the swing gate operators like the 6002, 6100, 6400, and 7500 series, and the slide gate operators like the 9100, 9200, and 9300 series. The welding and fabrication work we do spans both: operator mounting plates, hinge brackets, gate frame reinforcement, post caps, and the steel saddles that carry the gate’s weight.
The compatibility gotcha Miami owners hit most often is this: a DoorKing 9100 slide gate mounts the same from the operator side, but the rail supports and cantilever hardware differ by gate weight and panel material. We’ve seen gates built with lighter-gauge steel than the original install assumed, and that’s exactly what fails in a coastal climate. If you can find the model number on the operator cover or the inside of the control box, that narrows it down. If not, we measure the gate leaf, weigh the panel by feel and marking, and build the bracket to the gate that’s actually in your driveway, not the one in a parts diagram.
On OEM versus aftermarket: DoorKing’s factory brackets and mounting kits are good steel, but they’re dimensioned for standard installs. Miami’s older neighborhoods and custom driveway work mean a lot of non-standard gates. We weld with the same-grade or heavier steel and match the bolt pattern to your operator, so you get a part that fits the operator and the gate. We also stock LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls parts for when a neighboring property on the same street needs a different brand.

Signs Your DoorKing Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags on the latch side. A gate that dips two inches or more when it’s open usually means the hinge weld is stretching or the post has moved. The operator is working harder every cycle, and the motor will pay for it.
- A crack you can see at a weld joint. Surface rust at a weld is normal in Miami. An actual crack, especially near the hinge or the operator mount, is a structural failure in progress and gets worse fast with every open and close.
- The gate scrapes the driveway or catches on the track. Slide gates drag when the support steel bends or a weld tears loose. The wheels wear unevenly, then the chain or belt starts binding, and a simple bracket job becomes a motor replacement.
- The operator mounting plate rattles or shifts. If the plate that holds your DoorKing operator wiggles when the gate moves, the bolts are working the steel. Weld repair here is urgent because a loose operator tears its own mounting holes wider.
- A humming motor but a gate that barely moves. Sometimes the motor is fine and the fabricated steel behind it is the problem: a bent guide, a seized hinge, or a twisted frame binding the gate in place. The motor hums because the gate won’t let it turn.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Miami, DoorKing welding and fabrication work falls into three honest price bands:
- Small bracket or hinge repair: $450 – $650. One broken weld, one bent bracket, one hinge plate. We cut, fit, weld, grind, and re-coat the area with rust-inhibiting paint.
- Operator mount or slide gate hardware fabrication: $700 – $950. A new mounting plate, reinforced supports, or rail hardware built to measure and welded in place. Includes checking the operator alignment after the weld cools.
- Frame section rebuild or multi-point weld repair: $1,100 – $1,400. When salt air has gotten into several joints and the gate needs real steel work to be sound again. Includes grinding out the failed welds, re-welding, and reinforcing where the metal has thinned.
The price is written and agreed before the first weld goes down. Parts and labor are line-itemed separately, so you see what you’re paying for steel and what you’re paying for the skilled hand. If the welds fail within a year under normal gate use, the 365-Day Done Right Promise means we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
For welding work, we’re going to say call us from the start. This is high-amperage work on structural steel that holds a moving gate. A bad weld on a hinge or operator mount doesn’t just fail quietly; it drops a heavy panel on whatever is in the way. We’ve repaired too many gates where a homeowner’s weld looked fine for three months and then tore clean through on a busy morning.
What you can safely do is the diagnosis: check for visible cracks, measure the sag, mark where the gate binds, and note whether the problem started after a storm or hard hit. The Threshold Standard means the technician who arrives will have been background-checked, identity-verified, and will have sent you their name and photo before they pull into your driveway. Call (850) 495-7564 and we’ll set a time. Know what’s broken before we touch it. Fix it once.
FAQs
A properly cleaned, welded, and coated bracket or hinge repair should last 8 to 12 years in Miami’s salt air and humidity, assuming the gate is balanced and the operator isn’t fighting the panel. The welds that fail early are almost always ones put over rusted steel without grinding back to clean metal first. Call (850) 495-7564 if you want an honest assessment of what you’ve got.
Yes, when the steel around the crack is still thick enough to hold a weld, we grind the crack out, weld it solid, and add reinforcement plate behind it. If the metal has thinned past half its original thickness from rust, we build a replacement rather than try to save steel that won’t hold.
Most single-bracket or hinge repairs take two to three hours on site, including cooling and recoating. A frame rebuild or multi-point job can run a half day or a full day. We’ll quote you the time upfront and the work is done when it’s done, not when the clock runs out.
We carry common steel stock, hinge plates, and operator mounting hardware sized for DoorKing swing and slide gate series on the truck. For heavier frame sections, we cut and form from the same steel stock we carry in our fabrication rig. If a job needs something unusual, we measure on the first visit and return with the part already built.
