FAAC welding and fabrication in Miami typically runs $340 – $680 installed, depending on what failed and whether we’re reinforcing the gate frame, repairing a cracked hinge mount, or rebuilding a gate leaf that salt air has eaten through. We carry FAAC-compatible fabrication stock and welding equipment on the truck, so most repairs finish same-day. You usually find out you need this when the gate starts sagging at the hinge side, makes a grinding sound as it opens, or the FAAC operator labors because the gate’s weight is no longer balanced.

Here’s the reality we see on Miami properties: the gate frame fails before the FAAC motor does. The motor keeps pushing, but the metal it’s bolted to has rusted, cracked, or twisted. That’s where welding and fabrication come in, and that’s where a gate-only specialist saves you money, because we fix the metal correctly instead of band-aiding it with shims and hoping.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
FAAC operators mount to the gate leaf and the post. The operator is only as solid as what it’s bolted to. We weld and fabricate for FAAC swing operators, including the 390, 400, 412, 415, 770, S418, S450H, and C720 series, plus FAAC slide operators like the 740, 741, and 844. The common thread: these operators push and pull thousands of cycles a year, and in Miami’s humidity and salt air, the steel post or hinge plate they attach to gives out.
Identifying your FAAC model is straightforward. Look at the operator housing, there’s a metal or printed label with the model number and serial. If the label is sun-blasted or missing, measure the piston stroke length and the mounting plate width, and we’ll match it. One compatibility gotcha with FAAC: the S450H and 415 share a similar housing but use different mounting bolt patterns, which means the wrong post bracket gets welded on if someone is guessing. We don’t guess.
OEM vs aftermarket: For the actual FAAC operator internals, we use OEM FAAC parts. For the metal we weld, OEM isn’t a thing: the original gate frame and hinge plates were fabricated by whoever installed the gate. We cut and weld new steel to match or exceed the original gauge, typically 11-gauge (1/8-inch) for ornamental gates and 3/16-inch wall steel for heavy slide gates.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags at the latch side. The top hinge weld or the hinge plate itself has cracked or stretched. The FAAC operator then works against gravity and burns out faster.
- The gate scrapes concrete or catches on the driveway. The post has shifted or the gate frame is twisting. Metal fatigue, not a misaligned wheel, is usually the root cause on swing gates.
- The FAAC operator makes a groaning or grinding sound. The mounting plate has cracked and the operator is flexing under load. The motor is fighting metal that’s no longer rigid.
- You can see cracks in the paint or powder coat at weld joints. In Miami, moisture gets into a hairline crack, rust expands it, and the crack spreads. Early welding stops the frame from splitting.
- The hinge post leans inward. The post’s base weld or footing has failed. This is the most critical failure, because the gate’s full weight now hangs on the operator and the remaining hinge.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what we quote in Miami, and we write the number down before any work starts:
- Hinge plate or post bracket repair: $340 – $480. Includes grinding out the crack, welding new steel plate, and repositioning the hinge to true.
- Gate frame reinforcement (sagging leaf): $380 – $560. Adding a weld-in gusset or cross-brace to restore the gate’s original shape.
- Gate leaf rebuild or re-fabrication: $500 – $680. For gates where rust has eaten more than a quarter of the frame. We cut out the bad sections, weld in new steel, and re-hang.
- Post repair or replacement with concrete work: $420 – $650. This includes cutting, welding, setting the post in fresh concrete, and re-hanging the gate to FAAC spec.
The range depends on how much steel we’re replacing, how thick the original gate frame is, and whether we’re fighting rust in hidden corners. Every quote includes labor, materials, cleanup, and re-testing the FAAC operator to verify it’s pushing a balanced gate. You get the number before we touch a single weld. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the weld or the alignment fails within a year, the return visit is free.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the straight answer. If the gate is scraping or sounding off, you can safely check the obvious: look for visible cracks at the hinge plates, see if the gate wiggles when you push on it by hand, and watch whether the operator’s mounting bracket flexes during a cycle. That tells you where the problem lives.
What you should not do is fire up a welder and try to fix it yourself. Gate frames under tension can shift when you cut into them, and a gate leaf that drops suddenly can injure someone. Welding on a gate that’s still bolted to a powered FAAC operator also risks arcing current through the operator’s control board, which turns a $400 fabrication job into a $900 operator replacement. We’ve seen it happen more than once. If welding or frame repair is the diagnosis, call us at (850) 495-7564 and we’ll give you a written price before anyone lights a torch.
FAQs
In Miami’s heat, humidity, and salt air, a properly prepped and painted weld on a gate frame typically lasts 10 to 15 years before hairline rust appears at the joint. Raw steel welds on unpainted frames can show rust in 2 to 3 years. We grind, weld, prime, and paint every repair, which is why ours last on the longer end. Call (850) 495-7564 for an exact quote on your gate.
If the crack is clean and less than about a third of the plate’s width, we can grind it out and weld it solid. If the plate is rust-thinned or cracked in multiple places, we cut it out and weld in new steel, because welding rust back together just creates a second crack next week. We’ll show you the part before we decide. For a free assessment, call (850) 495-7564.
Most bracket, hinge plate, and frame reinforcement jobs take 2 to 4 hours on-site, including cooling, painting, and re-testing the FAAC operator. Full gate leaf rebuilds run half a day. We schedule most Miami fabrication repairs same-day or next-day, depending on when you call. Call (850) 495-7564 and we’ll give you a specific window.
Yes. Cole Rafferty, the owner here at Warden Gate Repair Miami, keeps 11-gauge and 3/16-inch steel plate, square tube stock, hinge weldments, and FAAC mounting brackets on the truck, so we usually weld and finish in one visit instead of measuring, ordering, and coming back. If your gate needs a gauge or bracket we don’t have on hand, we’ll tell you before we start and give you a written price for the return visit. Call (850) 495-7564 for a free estimate.
