We stock and install Ghost Controls-compatible hinge and roller replacement parts across Miami, with most single-gate hinge or roller swaps priced between $185 and $420 installed, including parts and labor. Most jobs are completed the same visit, because we carry the common Ghost Controls hinge and roller configurations on the truck. You usually find out a hinge or roller has failed when the gate starts dragging, squealing, or binding mid-swing, or when you notice a visible sag at the free end and a widening gap at the latch post.

Ghost Controls gates are common in Miami neighborhoods from Kendall to Pinecrest, and the salt air plus daily afternoon rain does not do the moving hardware any favors. Hinges and rollers are the two parts that absorb the most mechanical abuse on any swing or slide gate, and when they start to go, the opener motor works harder every cycle until something else gives.
Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
Ghost Controls builds hardware for two distinct gate types: swing gates, which pivot on heavy-duty hinges, and slide gates, which ride on rollers and a track. The hinge conversation applies to Ghost Controls swing gate openers and gate leaf hardware on the company’s AXS and R Series swing-arm configurations. The roller conversation applies to Ghost Controls slide gate systems, where the gate leaf rolls along a ground or post-mounted track.
The compatibility gotcha we see in the field: Ghost Controls does not brand its own standalone hinges and rollers. These are structural gate hardware, supplied by the gate fabricator when the system was originally built. That means there is no single Ghost Controls part number to look for. What matters is the gate leaf weight, the hinge barrel diameter, the roller bracket spacing, and the track profile. In Miami, most residential Ghost Controls gates use hinges with a 3/4-inch pin and barrel diameters between 1-1/4 and 2 inches, and slide gate rollers between 4 and 6 inches in diameter riding V-track or box rail.
If you have the original gate submittal or the builder’s racking drawing, bring it out. If not, we measure on site and match to the correct load-rated part. For Ghost Controls swing systems specifically, we recommend replacing hinges in pairs even when only one has play, because a mismatched pair changes the swing geometry and shortens opener life.

Signs Your Ghost Controls Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- Visible sag at the latch post. The free end of the gate dips noticeably, and the latch no longer lines up square. This means the hinge pin or barrel has worn, and the gate leaf is now hanging on the opener arm rather than the hinges. Every cycle accelerates wear on the Ghost Controls motor.
- Dragging or scraping on the ground. A swing gate that used to clear the driveway now scrapes the concrete, or a slide gate leaves fresh marks behind the track. Worn rollers drop the leaf height. Worn hinges drop the outer edge. Either way, the gate is carrying weight where it should not.
- Squealing or grinding when the gate moves. High-pitched squeal usually points to a dry or failed roller bearing. Grinding is worse, often meaning the bearing race has shattered and the roller is chewing metal into the track. Catching this early spares the track.
- Jerky or uneven movement mid-swing or mid-slide. The gate hesitates, then lurches. A binding hinge or a flat-spotted roller is fighting the opener, and the Ghost Controls board is compensating by drawing more current. Over time, that burns out limit switches and capacitors.
- Wobble or side-to-side play when you pull on the gate by hand. Put your hand on the gate and rock it. Movement of more than a quarter inch at the latch end usually means hinge bushing wear. On a slide gate, noticeable lateral play at the roller bracket means the wheel bore is elongated.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Miami, we quote Ghost Controls hinge replacement between $185 and $340 for a standard residential single-swing gate, including the hinge pair, weld or bolt-in installation, re-alignment of the gate leaf, and a full cycle test of the opener. Roller replacement for a residential slide gate typically runs $220 to $420, depending on the roller count, whether the track requires dressing, and whether the roller brackets need re-welding.
The range comes from gate weight and existing hardware condition. A light aluminum gate with bolt-in hinges sits at the low end. A heavier steel gate that needs the old hinge welds cut and the new hinges welded and re-powdered sits higher. The same logic applies to slide gates: replacing two rollers on a clean track costs less than replacing four rollers and restoring a rust-pitted section of V-track.
Every quote is written and agreed before any work starts. No line items appear later. The labor includes aligning the gate so it closes against the stop square and the Ghost Controls opener is not fighting a bind. We back our hinge and roller work with the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair does not hold, the second visit is free.
DIY or Call Us?
What an owner can safely check: visual sag, rust bloom at the hinge barrel, flat spots or visible bearing wear on rollers, and track debris. That is diagnosis, and it is useful. What we do not recommend: removing a swing gate leaf or a slide gate panel without a lift plan in place, cutting out welded hinges, or re-welding brackets. These are structural parts carrying several hundred pounds. A gate that comes off its hinges during removal can do serious damage to a person, and re-welding without proper alignment just transfers wear to the Ghost Controls opener.
Cole Rafferty has pulled badly welded hinge repairs off Miami gates more times than he cares to count, and the story is always the same: the weld held, the alignment did not. Know what’s broken before we touch it. Fix it once. If you want a trained eye on the hinge or roller before you commit to anything, call (850) 495-7564 and we’ll give you an honest read and a written price.
FAQs
In Miami, with the salt air and humidity, we typically see hinge barrels and roller bearings last 4 to 7 years before they need replacement, compared to 7 to 10 years in drier inland climates. Gates within a few miles of Biscayne Bay or the Intracoastal fail on the shorter end because the air corrodes bearing surfaces faster. If your gate is past five years and showing any of the symptoms above, call (850) 495-7564 and we’ll inspect before it damages the opener.
In our experience, repair rarely holds. Some shops will weld up a worn hinge pin bore or pack a noisy roller bearing with grease, but a worn bore is a dimensional problem, not a lubrication problem, and a noisy roller bearing is already on the way out. Replacement gets you a new load-rated part with a written guarantee behind it. The 365-Day Done Right Promise means the replacement is covered; a re-greased bearing is a short-term reprieve, not a fix.
Most single-gate hinge replacements take 2 to 3 hours on site, including cutting the old hardware, welding or bolting in the new, re-aligning the gate leaf, and cycling the Ghost Controls opener to confirm smooth operation. Roller swaps on slide gates run similar, longer if the track needs extensive dressing. We quote time up front and the price does not change if the job runs over.
We carry the most common residential hinge and roller sizes on the truck and can finish most Miami jobs in one visit. If your gate needs a non-standard roller diameter or a heavy-duty hinge pair, we source it same week. We stock parts for Ghost Controls systems, along with LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing. Call (850) 495-7564 with your gate measurements and we’ll tell you if we have it on the truck before we roll.
